It was a deep, dark secret kept under our hats. Kept until that moment
during the June meeting when, with one sweeping gesture, the entire membership
removed their hats ... donned especially for this occasion ... in tribute
to Lois Harr.
Swift upon that sweeping gesture came Kenna, Carol Pelly's granddaughter,
with a large pink bag, which she presented to Lois. Astounded and perplexed,
Lois came to the front and opened the bag to reveal a beautiful quilt,
hand-made with loving care by Carol.
The quilt featured on its front twelve hats in different colors like the
ones that Lois is hardly ever seen without. On its reverse were actual
photos of Lois in her hats. These had been supplied to Carol by Lois'
good friend, Helen Salisbury, who was on hand to take photos of this occasion.
Lois will have a birthday in August, when our club is dark. When we return
in September, Lois will be a nonogenarian! Yes, Lois will be ninety!
Once again, "Hats Off" to Lois!
